At Wilderness Encounters we're passionate about birds.
It's our pleasure to create for you a birding safari sure to delight the eye while expanding your list of "lifers."
Our area of operation, The Timbavati and Klaserie Private Nature Reserves, boast approximately 260 bird species living in open savannah, savannah woodland, riverine and water habitats. With over 15 years in the reserves, we know the birding "hot spots." We also have blinds, ideally situated at water holes.
The Timbavati and
Klaserie Private Nature Reserves
are also home to a number of endangered bird species, including the Ground hornbill, Whiteheaded vulture and the Bateleur eagle. There's also the popular yet ellusive Secretary bird, the Greenbacked Heron and Dwarf Bittern.
As an added bonus, your customized Wilderness Encounters birding safari is sure to include plenty of big game, including elephant, lion, leopard, rhino, giraffe, zebra and more.

Summer migratory months are November to February. Come see the Woodland kingfisher, Wahlberg's eagle and European roller.
